Our campaign in Albuquerque is teaching people about Project Defending Life’s Pro-Life ministry in our city and it is also teaching them that many senseless deaths taking place almost every day in our community.
Many who have come to pray in front of Planned Parenthood have been moved to tears when realizing what is happening to innocent babies. They have passed by the abortion mill so many times, they say, without knowing the terrible thing that is happening there. Now they will remember when they pass this way again.
According to Phil Leahy, well-known and beloved pro-life missionary associated with PDL, he spoke to two couples recently while sidewalk counseling at Planned Parenthood. These couples had returned to Planned Parenthood to get their money back and cancelled their abortion appointments! Phil says it has been such a morale booster to him personally to see so many people come out and pray at the sidewalks and at the PDL chapel during this Lenten 40 Days prayer crusade. Phil has spent many days all alone every week for many years in front of Planned Parenthood and Curtis Boyd’s high volume abortion facility At Encino and now at 522 Lomas.
Sally Govea, Project Defending Life’s office manager, and Father Imbarrato have also expressed their joy in seeing so much activity at the PDL office and chapel with prayer volunteers regularly signing in for sidewalk duty or holy hour in the chapel since the Lenten prayer campaign started. Many come in to talk to the staff about PDL’s ministries and apostolate. Our staff has seen more sign-ups for Holy Hour adoration and people newly acquainted with PDL have stopped by to express their surprise and horror over the abortion business Planned Parenthood is doing across the street and have expressed an interest in becoming more active in PDL’s ministries.
The 40 Days campaign has also blessed PDL with two new volunteers who have joined the office staff to help run operations. Every night of the week, adorers, including Father Imbarrato, are holding overnight vigils at the chapel spending special time with our Lord during the quiet hours of the night and early morning. Join us if you would like to offer our Lord something special during Lent.
We ask everyone who has responded to the call for prayer, penance, and sacrifice in front of Planned Parenthood during Lent, to continue to commit to spending time in prayer in front of the abortion provider’s facility all year round. Can you come an hour a week to pray at the place where babies are being sacrificed? It does make a difference in saving innocent lives, in changing hearts and minds and converting souls.
