Mom Regains "...faith in God.."

Fri Apr 3 '09 3:58 pm

Last Christmas, the Junior Challenge Girls from Annunciation Parish adopted one of our ‘new moms’ from the The PDL Gabriel Project.

The 3rd and 4th grade girls gave Carolyn (pregnant with Gabriel) three baskets of Christmas gifts and baby items. The girls wanted to meet Carolyn and they invited her to their monthly class on Sunday, March 8th. Carolyn had moved out of state a month ago to live with her mom, she was back in Albuquerque visiting, the same weekend of the class.

When Carolyn arrived to the classroom, the girls surprised her with a baby shower. Christine and Lisa, class moms/leaders, had organized baby shower decorations, cake, punch, and many gifts from the Challenge girls. Carolyn, shared much of her story with the class and the girls had a few personal experiences to share about baby’s in their familys.

The girls were also curious about the work we do at Project Defending Life., We talked about the sanctity and the gift of life and how from the moment of conception the fertilized egg is a unique, unrepeatable person, just like each of them. The time together ended with pictures and the hope that after Gabriel is born in May, Carolyn will return to the class to show him off.

From a previous article about Carolyn, she sent this letter to let everyone know how well she is doing and to express her appreciation to all. Especially the Gabriel Project.

Dear friends,

I am doing wonderful and things are going really well. I miss everyone there!!! It is nice not to worry about the safety of myself and the baby. I am so excited bout the baby the closer it gets the more anxious I become… I am now 29 weeks. We have not started to buy much yet, but it will be wonderful to go shopping for baby things with my mom. She has been very positive about everything.

I know she does not have to do what she is doing and I greatly appreciate everything. I greatly appreciate the help that Project Defending Life has given me. You all have helped me through such a tough time during my pregnancy and have been there for me since the beginning of my pregnancy. Without the support and help I would not be having this beautiful baby. Without all the help everyone provided for me I dont know where I would be today. I do not know what would have happened if I had walked into Planned Parenthood. Thank you Laura and PDL for everything you have done for me. Thank you so much!!!

Also, I would like you to read this to the group from Junior Challenge Girls Club at Annunciation Parish that sent the baby items for my son and me. I greatly appreciate all the items that we received. What you all did was amazing. To some people it may not be much to get those things but to me it meant the world. It helped me through a very hard time in my life. I finally realized I was doing what was right. That I was going to be able to take care of my unborn son.

The gifts I recieved gave me back the faith in God that I had lost and that I needed so much. The day you gave me the news that I was picked to recieve the items all I could do was cry. I had no words to describe what I was feeling. To know people that I had never met wanted to help me and my baby changed me forever. I can never repay you all for what was given to my son and me. Thank you so much for everything!
